St Nick’s Market Bristol
Full Build | Interior & Exterior Joinery | Project Management
A contemporary construction for the historic Bristol market.
Client: Bristol City Council
We undertook the substantial build project creating new flexible retail spaces in the heart of the historic covered market. The previously underutilised market units were removed to make way for a more visually open space in the centre of St Nick’s. The new multi-tenanted unit, is designed around the market’s different floor levels, creating three distinct areas, suitable for start-ups, pop-ups and independent traders. The design, lovingly put together by GCP architects, not only preserves the heritage of St Nick's Market but also introduces a new functionality.
Care was taken for a sustainable construction, the building utilises a fully timber framed structure that has been left exposed in the final space, saving on additional materials.
Traditional techniques, contemporary outcome.
Traditional joinery techniques reference the markets unique character, and although distinctively contemporary in final form, the build oozes the attentive craftsmanship of our team who went above and beyond, putting so much care into the construction (even the bits that can’t be seen!)
